So what?
Musical Theatre Matters (MTM:UK) is a new not-for-profit organisation established in the UK by and for professional creatives / producers wishing to develop and champion new musicals, new opportunities and new writers throughout the UK.  It has three initial aims: to increase knowledge, encourage a community, and champion musical theatre.  Every member shares one core belief - that Musical Theatre Matters.

Sailing to Tomorrow: What an absolute little cracker.  Peter D Robinson has created a beautiful and moving piece of Musical Theatre that has the potential to go far. . . From the opening song I was hooked.  A magnificent Les Mis-like epic chorus number set the large audience up very well for what was to come.  We were not disappointed.  Every song seemed to grab you, and I can honestly say that this was some of the nivest music I have heard in a musical for a long time and Robinson's dialogue was quite excellent and often very funny with some brilliant and well timed deliveries by the cast.  As well as being a little gem in itself, the cast performed the piece admirably.  The standard of singing was really very impressive . . .this musical could well be on its way to a very profitable future.  Loved it!
2007 was the first year for a whole range of MTM:UK awards.  Carpe Diem were thrilled when Peter was nominated; when they learned how many shows had been reviewed, they were flabbergasted; when they read the reviews of "Sailing to Tomorrow" they could hardly believe it.

The other nominations were:

EUROBEAT - ALMOST EUROVISION - written by Craig Christie and Andrew Patterson.
Big budget, very funny Eurovision spoof which has run in Australia and Edinburgh and is due to start a ten week run in the West End in September.

FAITH BROWN AND HER BOYS IN THE BUFF - Chris Burgess, Cathy Shostak, BB Thorn and Sarah Travis (herself a Tony award winner)
Billed as Chorus Line meets The Full Monty.  And who hasn't laughed at Faith Brown's wicked observations on life?

TIR NAN OG - Dave Anderson
Extremely well respected actor and writer
A lonely woman sailor seeks the mythical land of youth in this musical which has the cast playing much of the music themselves.

In such company, Peter can feel very satisfied in being a runner-up!

While reviews themselves - good or bad - are generally the opinion of one person, the panel who selected "Sailing to Tomorrow" for consideration are well known and respected names in the Musical Theatre business.  This recommendation is not to be sniffed at!
If you missed "Sailing to Tomorrow" last time round, catch it at the Fringe this year -
